A mountain outside
can be a clue.

This photo, with no location description, was assessed as having been taken near the windows of La Terrasse Brasserie in Interlaken. The conclusion comes from cross-checking several clues.

  • Mountain ridges and terrainCompare distant mountain outlines to narrow down possible shooting areas.
  • Street views and spatial relationshipsCheck the shooting direction using roads, nearby features and information about the venue.
  • Keep the uncertainty visibleConfidence is medium. The exact window, seat, floor and shooting date are unconfirmed; the precise area is unknown.

Before you start,
a few answers.

Can I use a photo without GPS data?

Yes. WherePhoto considers buildings, text, terrain and other visual clues alongside public sources, rather than relying solely on GPS data. Clear photos with distinctive features are more useful.

Can every photo be located precisely?

There is no guarantee. A result may identify a venue or a reference area, or the photo may remain unlocated. We show confidence, evidence and uncertainties, without treating a reference point as an exact seat or shooting position.

How are my photos processed?

Your selected photo and the clues you provide are uploaded for analysis. The investigation may involve third-party AI, reverse image search and web search services. Do not submit photos you have no right to use or that contain sensitive private information. For details, read our Privacy Policy.

Can I download the app now?
